Participants can now reserve their seats at the programme events of the International Youth Convention. Booking is possible for a maximum of three events. In many of the halls reservation is not necessary.
All the large events in the Arena are openly available to all IYC participants. Each participant’s pass is printed with a seat location.
Access is also free to the Hall of Encounters, Hall 6. Reservation is also not necessary for the open air events and for programmes in Halls 8a, 8b, 7.0, 7.1 and 5. Availability will be sorted on a “first come – first in” basis.
Choose three events
Places in the smaller rooms (especially the workshops and presentations in CCD-Süd, Hall 7A, and partially in Hall 7.1) must be booked in advance. This is due to the limited room capacity. The project manager, Hendrik Herrmann explained the necessity to reserve places. “A crowd of 500 could be a problem when jostling for a workshop with just 20 seats.”
The young participants are asked to look in the guide or the online programme for the events they would like to see. Everyone will have the chance to reserve their place in up to three of the smaller event rooms. This limit will give everyone the chance to be at least one of the events.
Booking through the website
Reservations are made online under the programme heading. The pre-condition is an account on the IYC website, which all participants will have received in the registration process. Participants without an email address must log in to their profile with their participant’s number and their password, which they will have been given by their group leader. Group leaders are able to generate new passwords, if necessary.
Any remaining seats will be freed up on the day before the event is due to start. It will then be possible to book a further option (beyond the set limit of three). Two parallel running events cannot be selected. The system also takes a certain amount of transfer time between two events into account.
It is important that all participants give up their seats if they are unable to participate, even if at short notice before the start time. This will allow others the chance to take part in that programme.
Reservations will be made through your account on the IYC website. Participants must login there with their access details and go to “List of programme events”. Places can be reserved here and the booking can also be changed later. Any remaining seats will be freed up on the day before the event is due to start. p>

Equal opportunity for all
In 2009, at the European Youth Day, the situation arose where participants or helpers occupied seats, thus preventing others from taking part in some events. The wish was expressed by many of the youth in a survey at the start of the IYC planning, to find a way around that. Therefore, helpers and employees will not be able to reserve places this time in any of the smaller event rooms. Also, older participants are requested to give the youth priority and wait until shortly before event start times before booking free places.
Helpers and employees will, however, be able to take part when places are still unoccpied at the event start time. Therefore, it is why it is important for reserved seats to be timely occupied.
