Düsseldorf. The first International Youth Convention of the New Apostolic Church will start very shortly. Almost 30,000 young people will travel to Düsseldorf from all over the world. An exciting programme awaits them, with more than 300 individual items.
”What’s on the programme for the IYC?” is one of many questions which the project organisers have been receiving repeatedly over the past weeks. Naturally, details about the event are being asked so soon before it is due to begin. The work to publish the programme has been feverishly tackled over the past few weeks.
A challenge for the planners
Locating each of the over 300 events on site was a big challenge, as was the communication system for each of the entries sent in. The technical requirements for each entry had to be met, as well as contents, legal conditions and the text for the programme guide agreed.
In the past weeks alone, the project coordinating team has received numerous requests for alterations, which they have tried to consolidate., but which have slowed things up, due to other changes. At the end, everyone should be happy with their spot on the Messe premises.
The guide is going to press
”This evening we will be making the final corrections to the programme guide and then it’s going to be printed from Thursday”, were the words of the project coordinator, Marcel Korstian, who has been working together with the graphic designer, Jennifer Lennermann, in assembling the data. A mammoth project: in its quantity and its variety, with more than 400 programme hours.
Each of the event locations will be shown in the guide. The programme choice will be printed three-fold: according to event location, to event theme and to an overall list of timings with details.
Lots to discover on 300 pages
The guide will also give lots of organisational information about arrivals, booking of programme events, or sleeping overnight in the youth camps. An important aspect for all visitors is the evening events: how long does the tram run into the city?
There is so much to see in the 300 pages of the programme guide. The IYC Guide is available online as a PDF document from the beginning of May. In parallel, the programme can also be called up on the website. Additionally, extracts from the guide are available as separate PDF files.
Delivery with participants’ passes
The guide will be printed from mid May for distribution to group leaders (in Germany). It will be sent, together with the participants’ passes to group leaders who have transferred their entry fees by the stated deadline. Employees and helpers will receive their copy of the guide on arrival in Düsseldorf.
Delivery of the guide to other countries is too risky, because of longer postal delivery times. They will only receive the participants’ passes through the post. The guide can also be collected on site - or digitally in the app, and on the website. An English version of the printed IYC guide is also being prepared.
