Noah - the live audio drama (DE)

In the highly technological world of the future, a professor and his student are searching for relicts of the past. In doing so, they make an astounding discovery: a Bible. They venture to open the book and come across the name of Noah. Using his vivid imagination, the student begins to imagine what life must have been like inside the Ark, and so takes the audience with him, accompanied by a choir and a band, on a journey full of ups and downs, conflict and divine trust. There is clear intention to hint at possible parallels in the congregational life.

Discussion group: enthusiasm for Jesus Christ (DE)

The youth have difficulty in maintaining interest in church activities if they don’t have enthusiasm for Jesus Christ. What do the young people understand by “enthusiasm for Jesus Christ”? What exactly inspires me in Jesus Christ? How does it happen? What makes it difficult? How can we live this enthusiasm? These questions will be considered in a hosted session of information exchange.

New in the congregation: Where is my place? (DE)

I’ve finally found a place to study, or a new job. I’ve already got an apartment. Everything’s fine, except in the church it’s not going so well. Somehow I don’t belong there. No one notices me and everything is quite different. Therefore, I don’t need to go any more: no one would miss me anyway. That’s the sort of way the stories begin from young people, when they become disillusioned and withdraw. What are the possibilities and strategies we could use to make the new congregation become a “feel good” congregation?

The youth delegate: how must we be? (DE)

The youth delegate is one of the nicest tasks in the Church. At the same time, many expectations are placed upon youth delegates by the youth, their parents, the Church and those personally close to the delegates. In this workshop we will express our own expectations and compare them with the expectations of others. We will develop an action plan of how we, as youth delegates should be and want to be.

"Making of - How to use" the Divine Service Guide? (DE)

Every minister knows it and needs it: the former Word of Life, today known as the Divine Service Guide, in a practical pocket version. It contains the Bible text as the basis for each sermon, including its context, a key message for the divine service, theological thoughts to expand on and a summary. But where do the monthly texts come from which originate from the Chief Apostle? How should they be used? Why aren’t certain biblical texts not used on which to base the sermons?

Peut-on croire en Dieu en tant que biologiste? Et si oui, pourquoi? (FR)

The question as to whether biological knowledge is comparable with belief in God has been controversially discussed and often leads to confusion. From the viewpoint of Isaiah 55; 9 and 10 it is shown that this discussion is actually closed, because it takes place at the wrong level. However, when we consider the biblical truth in the light of scientific theory, we can draw a rather surprising conclusion.

"Do you still believe, or do you already think?" What are atheists criticising about the Church? (DE)

Today’s atheists often seem very belligerent, especially against the Church, its representatives and even the Christian faith, not unusually with provocative and diminishing respect. While classic atheists still ask the question how a world without God could be, there are many atheists in the 21st century who see religiousness as a sign of stupidity. His presentation asks: what are atheists trying to achieve with their verbal attacks, and what have they already achieved?

Can't you see it – Hast du's erkannt? (DE)

Vince (actually Paul-Vincent) isn't quite “too cool for school”, but definitely too cool for the Church. He became confirmed just for the money. One day, a comical, measly nerd appeared and claimed to be his guardian angel. As if Vince needed help or protection from anybody! This is a film, made by the youth of Kassel-Korbach, looking at the difference between being “here” and who is “here” - and for whom.

These and further questions will be dealt with in this workshop, before the participants work in groups to plan events in various projects. At the end, they will be revealed and evaluated by the participants. The aim is to encourage the youth in organising events in their home youth groups.

Crises, hunger and hardship: What can Church aid organisations do? (DE)

Aid organisations of the Church put the Commandment to love one’s neighbour into practice. Donations received go in supporting non-profitable, charitable projects. Representatives of the youth and of the Church’s aid organisations discuss questions arising, for example, from youth workshops. One aspect is trust in the aid organisation, knowing where help is needed, duties and projects of the aid organisations, the type of help and motivation of the donor.

A Pilgrimage along the Way of St. James in Spain (DE)

Simon Schmidt has now run four times along the Camino de Santiago, known as the Way of St. James, to Santiago de Compostela. This experience has changed his life. Many books have been written about the Way of St. James, but few tell of the “unadorned truth”. So, what is this “Way of St. James”? What does pilgrimage mean, and what personal relationship can it bring with God? This lecture will give you an unadorned, personal, uplifting and spiritually intimate tale of the experience which can be had on the Way of St. James.

Can God's existence be proved? (DE)

When God’s existence can’t be proven, why do you believe in Him? Is the simple truth that we can’t prove that God doesn’t exist a satisfactory answer? Fortunately, there are many ways to try finding an answer to these questions: with faith, with philosophy, natural science and also with logic. It will lead us to a substantiated and (hopefully) amusing short presentation on the most important questions of mankind.

Science and Faith: Constitution – Contradictions – Commonalities (EN)

Faith and science: are they really adversaries? Can they be friends? We will stimulate this subject in our discussion¸ focussing on existence: what really is science ... and what is faith? How do they “function”? We will then consider the inter-actions; that is, commonalities, differences and possible synergies. We will finally occupy ourselves with contradictions and test our results by both sides, looking at the past and the present, and – especially interesting – scenarios of the future.

What is the Bible text telling me: Divine service preparation together (DE)

“Divine service is the activity of God upon human beings and a work of human beings for God.” (NAC Catechism 12.1) For this to “function” as a positive experience, a substantial sermon must be delivered, on the one hand. On the other hand, attendees must be prepared for the service and the word of God beforehand. In this workshop we will work together on a passage from the Bible and its context, so that we can draw a concrete and practical core statement from it.

Extol creation – protect creation (DE)

In this devotional we will dedicate ourselves to God, our Creator, in text, song and intercession. We will remind ourselves just how rich He has made us through His creation; the creation which is flawless. Nevertheless, we must also realise that much of it has become out of control and is suffering under us, as human beings. The devotional will therefore bring us hope by being careful protectors of God’s creation.

Of course, there are also many differences. Auxiliary Bishop Rolf Steinhäuser and Bishop Peter Johanning talk of the similarities and the differences.

Youth leaders: How do we have to be? (EN)

The presentation examines the book “Questions and Answers”, the forerunner to today’s Catechism. It continues with a look at the specific work on the Catechism, for example the process in reaching the form of the text. The theological consequences drawn from the work, such as the revision of the New Apostolic Articles of Faith and the concept of the expanded understanding of the Church, will also be discussed.

The fascination of foetal development (DE)

A child developing inside the mother’s womb is one of the most fascinating occurrences in God’s creation imaginable. A tiny human being grows from just two cells in 40 weeks – that is a wonder! What exactly takes place over these nine months? When does the baby's heart start to beat, can the foetus in the mother’s body already hear, or even calculate? Can this development be influenced in any way? This presentation looks at the development from a medical view point and brings the latest scientific evidence into the dialogue.

Radioactivity: a blessing or a curse (DE)

All living things are exposed to radiation from their beginning. A particular role is played by “ionising radiation”, often wrongly called “radioactive radiation”. Radioactivity is a natural phenomenon, without which the world wouldn’t be the same as it is now. Nuclear medicine is generally forgotten as a beneficial blessing to the field of radioactivity. The speaker is of the opinion that “the blessing of God’s creation exists through the understanding of its secrets and its application for use by mankind”.

We deliberately learn different feelings, different roles, different times and with all our senses. We quickly, playfully and easily learn to test the changes, to go beyond boundaries, to understand others and to go further in our development. Women are different than men. We all know that from our daily lives. This also applies to the environment of the Church and often leads to uncertainty or to problems. Participants will then have the chance to discuss their own experiences in small groups, and to put their questions and problems forward and try to find possible solutions.

Film: "Lesbarer Brief Christi" (DE)

The story in the film is about a young woman, who, with her open-mindedness and unconventional style is like a whirlwind in her congregation. That isn’t particularly appreciated. She is soon in conflict with an older brother, who has a very different idea how things should be in the congregation. An emergency situation suddenly happens, which brings the two closer together. They are forced to make a choice; either they work together or they persist in acting on their own. The film is a project of the youth group from Borna (Leipzig district – District Apostle Korbien’s region) and raises the issue how conflict in the congregation between different generations can arise – and also how often contradictions can happen between what is preached and our attempts to action them in our daily lives.

Can a biologist believe in God – and if yes, why? (EN)

The old branch and the new one - 1863 and its aftermath (EN)

In 1863 the congregation in Hamburg departed from the Catholic-Apostolic Church. From that time onward there were two different types of Apostolic congregations in Germany. People of that time fought to keep them apart and called them the “English Apostolate”, as opposed to the “German Apostolate”. How did the separation come about? How can someone become an Apostle? How did the Chief Apostle ministry come into being? When was the title "New Apostolic" first used? Why didn’t they call it the New Apostolic Church then?

Reasonable arguments for the existence of God (EN)

The philosopher, Dr. Emanuel Rutten, is mostly occupied with mathematics, logic, history and music. Religion had no meaning to him. As he later found Christianity he was moved by its existential and ethical truth, its philosophical depth and its sublime beauty. After a while he was certain: “This is my lifestyle. This is the way I want to go in this world. This is it, which I am: a Christian.” He then discovered that there are reasonable arguments for the existence of God.

Quarrelling, and still loving each other: thoughts on a Christian conflict approach (DE)

No doubt about it: quarrelling can be strenuous. But is it “unchristian”? As talk in days of the past was about “taking the lower road” and many have held back from conflict through neighbourly love, it’s worthwhile taking a look at the positive side of conflicts. How could productive conflicts look like and could they result in closer relationships? And what is the significance that a dream hides behind every conflict? The preacher looking at the peoples' mouths (DE)

Martin Luther wanted to “look at the crowd’s mouth” as he made his translation of the Bible. His wish was to make the statements in the Bible as understandable as possible for the people of his time. Do young people today understand the words and pictures of ages past? The aim of this workshop is to define specific biblical terminology and also “New Apostology”, to analyse them and to try putting them in an understandable language of today.

Have self confidence! For women and girls (DE)

You don’t have to justify a “No”. You don’t have to hide your light under a bushel. Be proud of yourself and of that which you have already achieved; with all your strengths and weaknesses; with trust in yourself and in God; as a young girl or a grown up woman. With this workshop we will support you to show more self confidence. We will theorise on the basis of the “10 Gebote für starke Frauen” (10 Commandments for strong women), and will follow this with a practical part, with simple exercises in self defence and in trust.

Round table "Enthusiasm for Jesus Christ" (Spanish) (ES)

Active participation by the youth is not sustainable without their enthusiasm for Jesus Christ. We talk about enthusiasm, but do we all have the same meaning for the word? What do we, the youth, understand from “enthusiasm for Jesus Christ”? Perhaps we need to define it. We find some things which encourage enthusiasm and others which dampen it. What are they? How can encouraging factors be strengthened and dampening factors be quashed, or be compensated?

"Making of - How to use": the origin of the Divine Service Guide and how to use it (DE)

Can a biologist believe in God? (DE)

Description: A youngster who has discovered the lightness of being, a mother who doesn’t understand the world anymore and God, who has a plan for both of them – these are the ingredients of the IYC film made by the youth from Borna. The film is about conflicts between the generations and how each person has to find his/her own way to God. Emely and her family come to realise that it can be a difficult and painful process, but nevertheless that God accompanies each one on their way. The tradition of proving that God exists goes over the centuries. We will try, using rationality, to deduce that the presence of God is necessary for the existence of our world. Hardly ended and already forgotten: retaining more from the church service (DE)

Daily life begins for a Christian when the church service ends. In each service we receive a new impulse to take forward into our daily lives. Unfortunately, they are soon lost in the daily chaos. Thanks to the use of the mnemonic technique we can easily retain key elements and phrases from the services. This gives us a personal retentive follow-up of the church service and provides the opportunity for us to talk more about our faith. With a bit of practice, everyone would be able to apply this method to good value in everyday life.

Leadership in the Bible: effective, enthusiastic and authentic (DE)

Leadership is a very interesting and complex subject. Many concepts and theories compete with each other, and not all leaders appear to have the competence to lead. There are many elements in the Bible and in the work of Jesus which could demonstrate good leadership today. In our presentation we will examine some biblical impulses on “best practice in leadership” in depth. A study of the Bible shows that new perspectives can be found to lead and enthuse others more effectively, especially when serving in the Church.

Church services don’t just consist of a sermon. How could active participation in and around the Church look like? What options are there officially, for example in the services for the youth? What can I do myself to make the divine service experience lead to enthusiasm for Jesus Christ? What makes it sometimes difficult? What do I wish for? Is there anything else which could be of help?

Allein im Himmel? - Alone in heaven? (DE)

“Heaven is principally reserved for the Sealed New Apostolic Christians!” That was the perception over several decades of many New Apostolic Christians. The audience can discuss this question in an open session with Apostle Steinbrenner. The ecumenical delegate of the NAC in Northern and Eastern Germany will firstly explain the position of the Church concerning ecumenism. The presentation is in German, with English translation.

I am I ... in the Holy Communion (DE)

Carsten Dehner's presentation examines the motto "Here I am" and applies it to the Holy Communion, where Jesus Christ "here" is. But how does this "being here" of Christ specifically appear? How can we, and should we, envisage this?

The weak in faith are on the increase: Freedom and life according to the Epistle to the Romans (DE)

In Luther’s Bible translation, the central term “doulos” in the Epistles of Paul are translated as “Knecht” (meaning “servant”): In an earlier translation of his the word “slave” was used. This term doesn’t appear to fit the meaning of Paul’s central wording; “freedom”. How could Paul maintain that we are free in Christ and, at the same time, be a slave of Christ? This interesting relationship will be examined more deeply in this presentation.

Keep more from the divine service (EN)

Daily life begins for a Christian when the divine service ends. In each service we receive a new impulse to take forward into our daily lives. Unfortunately, they are soon lost in the daily chaos. Thanks to the use of the mnemonic technique we can easily retain key elements and phrases from the services. This gives us a personal retentive follow-up of the divine service and provides the opportunity for us to talk more about our faith. With a bit of practice, everyone would be able to apply this method to good value in everyday life.

The inter-active Way of the Cross by the youth invites you to follow the way Jesus suffered, put into today’s time, under the motto “Where are you!” and to reflect on your life. Five Stations give you something to reflect on while actively taking part. You will come to a labyrinth, where you will be required to make some decisions and consider your position. There is also a cross, upon which black light will sporadically shine, to make visible that which is hidden for many. You are all invited to come to this project of the Hildesheim and Göttingen district churches and bring something yourself to put on the cross. This and much more will make the Way of the Cross a very personal experience for you.

We give support and advice to these groups of patients through our own experience. We also try to increase the acceptance of organ donations in the public domain through information. Almost all of our members have had heart transplants, so that they can explain to the public through their own history. We are also at a booth, giving the opportunity for further discussion.

French district church (FR)

The booth of the New Apostolic Church in France is inspired by the French “guinguette”, the name given to popular taverns and cafés located in the suburbs of Paris and other cities, where people like to eat and drink. The “IYC guingette” consists of three units. On the theatre stage you can unfold in your creativity. It is joined to the pavilion of Switzerland. Adjacent to it is a boccia pitch. The heart of the project is in the third area; the bar. From here, you can enjoy the shows on the stage, or support your friends playing boccia. You can enjoy a sense of French culture with coffee and a muffin from the bakery.

Wailing Wall (EN)

Perhaps you have heard of the “Kotel”: It’s 48 metres long and 18 metres high. It is to be found in Jerusalem and is more commonly known as the Wailing Wall. Thousands come to pray at this place each day. Many of them push prayers, their wishes or messages of thanks written on paper into the crevices of the wall. The wall symbolises for them the covenant of God with His people. Now you can take the opportunity to stick your wish, a plea for help or a personal message which moves you on our wall. You can equally intercede for others, take photos of their hopes, or take a note with you and turn that prayer and the wish of your neighbour into one of your own.

Here I am! The International Youth Convention will give you so many chances to put the inclusion words “We are all included!” into action. You will have the opportunity to take part in a crash course in sign language and plain language at the inclusion booth. Experts are there to give you advice on all inclusion topics. Test your ability to “read” Braille from examples provided and extensive translation assistance. Help to avoid exclusion in your locality through differences of opinion, uncool clothes, or handicaps. Position yourself against mobbing.

Hall 6

Garden of the Commandments: Your way (EN)

You will certainly have asked the question at some time about whether you are going the right way. Life will often show us later whether we have made the right decision, or have gone the wrong way. Whether you are going the right way in your faith is a decision which only God can tell you, and therefore it is a matter of concern to be aware of what God wants from you and on what scale He measures it. Over an expanse of 600 square metres you will have the opportunity to reflect and to answer the following questions: what is God’s will and do His Commandments still fit in our times? What do people want and are they interested at all in the will of God? What do you want and is God’s will still relevant to you? Follow an interesting path of contemplation and learn the Ten Commandments from a new perspective.

District church booth of District Apostle Nadolny's working regions (DE)

What do the German Federal States of Berlin and Brandenburg have in common with Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan? Correct! They are all part of District Apostle Wolgang Nadolny’s working parish, and of course all part of the area laid out in the exhibition booth of that district church. Have a photo taken of yourself before the Brandenburger Tor, go into a Russian “Banja”, or discover the “Silk Route” which connects Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan with Europe. Apart from the hustle and bustle of a large city and travel nerves you will find space to pause for rest and get to know other youth. Find out how young people in Moscow or Astana live their faith and learn what the youth do in their everyday lives in Mongolia or Uzbekistan. Each day we will introduce new cultures to you in small programme features. Many different nations and cultures have come together here; from Berlin and Moscow and from the other major cities within the represented countries. That is also our wish here; so please come along and bring your friends with you and enjoy some nice surprises!

Creative thinkers can have real fun here in our art workshop, and do so with unusual materials and techniques. Let yourself be surprised. You can also put your sparkling ideas into action by making your design of our church for the future.
