All around the world the young participants are packing their luggage for the International Youth Convention 2019. Here are some of the items which definitely must not be forgotten:
Your participant’s pass
Entry to the Messe and the Arena will not be permitted without the participant’s pass. Attached to the pass is also the voucher for the welcoming package.
A tip: group members should exchange mobile telephone numbers before entering the Messe premises, so that no one gets lost on arrival.
Protection from the sun and rain
Just like the programme, the weather will also be most variable. Participants must reckon with cloudy weather around 18° to 23° on Thursday and Friday. Some sunshine is forecast for Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures reaching 29° (not necessarily guaranteed!). You are therefore advised to bring a light rain jacket and sun lotion with you.
Power for your mobile phones
There is no opportunity to charge your mobile devices in the halls. You are recommended to bring a powerbank if you want to remain online – and to install the IYC app soonest on your smartphone. With the app, participants can quickly find all the events and see their location with a click on the map. They will also receive the latest information and news.
For your good night’s sleep
If you are sleeping in one of the dormitory halls you must bring a sleeping mat or airbed and sleeping bag or blanket with you. It is recommended to bring a light-weight sleeping bag (of micro-fibre material), because the halls are air-conditioned. Light-weight blankets are for sale, for a small sum, at the info point should you still feel cold at night. Don’t forget to bring your toilet articles and hand towels with you.
A tip: Choose sleeping bags and hand towels made of micro fibre, if possible. This material is light and dries quickly.
What you don’t need to bring
An extensive, international, balanced culinary selection awaits all participants in the canteen Halls 3 and 4. In the welcoming package is a “to go” drinking mug for the morning coffee or tea. Soft drinks are also included; water (still or sparkling) and apple juice spritzer). The drinks will be handed out in PET returnable bottles; the bottles can be returned at the dispensing point.
