What are the expectations of the young New Apostolic Christians at the International Youth Convention 2019 in Düsseldorf? With around two years still to go before the planned major event, potential participants have the opportunity to have an influence on the programme contents, and to let the planning executive know what their interests are. The online survey, to be found under iyc2019.org, is open until the end of May 2017.
Commissioned by the planning executive of the International Youth Convention 2019, the planning group responsible for communication has prepared an online survey questionnaire. The recipient target group is all potential participants of this major event, including the youth delegates, district elders and congregational rectors. The survey is particularly directed, however, toward the young New Apostolic Christians who want to come to Düsseldorf in 2019. They will be between 11 and 33 years of age today. The invitation goes out to all young Christians from the ages of 14 to 35 – and additionally to those being confirmed in the year 2020.
Filling out the questionnaire only takes a few minutes
The questionnaire is anonymous and brief. Filling it out will only take a few minutes. Firstly, biographical data is gathered, then various topics are treated. Under these topics participants can give a value on a four-level scale of their interests to each item. They can also add their own suggestions for additional programme items in which they are interested.
The first question deals with the general interest of potential programme choices at the International Youth Convention. The survey then moves on to specific themes and styles of music. Finally, the participants are able to name the media form through which they wish to continue receiving information about the International Youth Convention.
The survey serves as orientation for the planning executive
“You are asked for your personal opinion and perception”, it says at the introduction to the survey. The answers will help the planning executive to become orientated, and therefore there are no right or wrong answers.
Apostle Franz-Wilhelm Otten, project manager for this major event, said, “Of course we cannot promise that the programme items offered at the International Youth Convention will meet the answers and expectations of each and every survey participant”, but he did promise, “We will do our best”, because this is a Youth Convention which should be planned and shaped very largely by the youth. From today, the survey gives everyone the opportunity to do their part in contributing toward the programme of the International Youth Convention.
Results to be published in July
It is envisaged that the results of the survey will be published in the summer of this year. In parallel, after the motto and graphical design have been revealed at Pentecost, requests for the programme items will begin. The youth can then input their ideas, in groups, or as individuals, for musical items or programme contents, or simply send in their ideas.
